Sangakkara became the player to have scored a triple century in the 1st innings and then a century in his second innings after 24 years since Graham Gooch set the record.
Sangakkara scored 319 runs in the first innings and 105 runs in the second innings of the second Test against Bangladesh at Chittagong.The speciality of the record was that he managed to score both the triple century and the second innings century with sixers.
Furthermore, Sangakkara is placed third among the batsmen who had scored the most amount of runs in a test match.
The three other players who have scored 400 runs in a match are Graham Gooch, Mark Taylor and Brian Lara.
