 Levy on internet and broadband services reduced

The number of internet users in the country has exceeded

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in Sri Lanka reduces the telecommunication levy on internet broadband connection by fifty percent to 10% from 20% from January 2013,Says Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka Director General Anusha Pelpita.

Accordingly the currently levy of 20 percent will be reduced to 10 percent starting from next year(2013), Director General of TRC Anusha Palpita said.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission(TRC) states that presently the number of internet users in the country has exceeded 1.2 million and that the levy is being halved in order to increase internet usage.
