Sri Lanka-Japan trade ties
A diverse Japanese conglomerate has offered to invest in expanding Sri Lanka's banana and fishing industries and to provide greater export opportunities for those products.
Further strengthening Japan-Sri Lanka trade ties, Tokyo-based Fortune 500 Company, ITOCHU Corporation has offered to invest in banana cultivation and tuna fishing, the Economic Development Ministry said.
ITOCHU was also looking at infrastructure, transport and environmental friendly power plants. Minister Rajapaksa had said there was a market for banana, pineapple, rambutan grown in Sri Lanka in Japan.
