Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery exports are to be further boosted in European, Asian and the Middle Eastern countries with the establishment of new business contacts with leading gem traders through international gem and jewellery shows like FACETS, a top official of the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association said.

The 23rd International Gem & Jewellery Show will be held from 29th August -1st September at the he BMICH Exhibition and Convention Centre in Colombo.

FACETS Sri Lanka, held since 1991, will showcase a wide variety of sapphires and gemstones from producers and wholesalers from all the main producing areas of Sri Lanka.

This year’s exhibition will comprise over 150 booths with a variety of gem and jewellery that include precious and semi-precious gems.

FACETS 2013 Chairman, Juzar Adamaly says the SME sector plays a vital role within the entire gem and jewellery industry and it is a major component to the entire industry with targets to achieve US$ 1 billion export revenue by 2016.
