“The CRC team has done exceptionally well this year and
it’s great to see a mixture of past oars men and women from many schools coming
together and rowing as one. This is mainly because CRC helps them to continue
the sport once they leave school” said Maheel Gamage the Captain of the CRC
team.
Commenting on the regatta itself “We are
grateful for the tourist teams for coming here when no other international
sports team wanted to visit due to the law and order situation in the country,”
said the Pakistan Rowing Association (PRA) official Abdul Rahim Babi.
one of the most prestigious sports clubs in Sri Lanka.
The CRC is the cradle of rowing in Sri Lanka and has been a vital catalyst to
what the sport has grown into today. It is indeed noteworthy that many
institutions that have taking up rowing over the past several years, including
the three armed forces, started the sport at the CRC and have now proceeded to
develop their own rowing institutions.
