The Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) said it will sack one of its top officials for disobedience and leaking internal information, following his revelation that economic growth data compiled by the office had been inflated last year.

The department says the statistics on GDP, Economic Growth rate and inflation are collected and compiled through scientifically designed surveys, census, special studies and administrative records.

It also says compilation of statistics are done in accordance with the relevant recommendations of the United Nations, World bank, IMF and several other international agencies.
