Certificate for organic farming in Sri Lanka

Ministry of Technological Research and Atomic Energy said that standard certificate will be issued from today on wards for organic fertilizer cultivation devoid of using chemical fertilizer and pesticides.

The certification program initiated by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute aims to encourage the farmers to use organic fertilizer.

The Ministry said that the use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides has caused many problems in the country such as the chronic kidney disease and the consumption of food produced by using chemical fertilizer and pesticides adversely affect the health of the people.
