Malinga to lead Sri Lanka against New Zealand at WT20 2014 |
Sri Lanka present vice-captain Lasith Malinga will lead Sri Lanka in their next ICC World T20 match, as Dinesh Chandimal will be serving a one-match suspension handed to him by ICC match referee David Boon, for slow over rate in last match against England.
This was Chandimal's second minor over-rate offence within a 12 month period in the 20-over format.
Players are also fined 10% of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
Sri Lanka's final Super 10 match will take place on March 31 2014 in Chittagong against New Zealand. It is a must-win encounter in order for them to secure a place in the semi-final without letting net run rates determine their fate.
