A Malaysian delegation held discussions with Sri Lanka's investment promotion agency Board of Investment (BOI) to develop and promote Malaysian Foreign Direct Investments to Sri Lanka.

The delegation consisted of  Tan Li Lung – Counsellor - Malaysian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Shah Nizam - Consul (Trade) Commissioner Malaysia Consulate in Chennai, Badrul HishamHilal – Vice Consul (Trade) Malaysian High Commission in Colombo recently held discussions with the BOI.

The Malaysian side expressed interest in a number of structured projects which BOI and other state institutions developed and launched at the Commonwealth Business Forum held in November 2013.

The projects to be promoted in Malaysia are in variety of sectors including tourism, agriculture including Fish processing, Development of Industrial and IT Parks and Healthcare.

Malaysia is one of the leading investors in Sri Lanka, whose investments have resulted in considerable employment opportunities and revenue to the country, especially in the telecommunication sector.
