Sri Lanka to open Coconut Park to promote tourism in the East Sri Lanka |
The Sri Lankan government with the dual goal of developing coconut production and promoting tourism in the East plans to open a model Coconut Park in Pasikuda in the Eastern Province,Sri Lanka.
The Pasikuda Model Coconut Park, to be opened adjoining to Pasikuda Bay soon, is a joint project by the Ministry of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development and Coconut Development Board.
The 238-acre park is being constructed in an area in the Eastern Province where thousands of tourists are attracted to the white sandy beaches of Pasikuda. A 25-acre area adjoining the coconut park will be developed as a tourist zone.
this project is expected that this will create opportunities to promote coconut based products and create employment for the people in the area.
