Mihin Lanka Sri Lanka's national low-cost carrier recently hosted
an Ifthar event at the Wekanda Jummah Mosque in Colombo 02. The Ifthar provided
a meal for 600 Muslims who came to break fast at the mosque after their evening
prayers. The event was created by Mihin Lanka for its travel agents and regular
devotees of the mosque.
Those present included Hon. A.H.M Fowzie - Minister of
Urban Affairs, Nauzer Fowzie - Member of Parliament, N.M. Zameel - Director of
Muslim Cultural and Religious Affairs, A.H.M Azwer - Member of Parliament, Hon
Alavi Moulana - Governor of the Western Province, Nishantha Ranatunga -
Chairman, Mihin Lanka, the management of Mihin Lanka, the Board of Directors of
the Wekanda Mosque and the Wekanda Mosque Committee.

Nishantha Ranatunga, Chairman of Mihin Lanka, commented on the
event by saying, “We organized this event to foster an understanding of
multi-religious practices and we wanted to get involved with the community at a
grassroots level. We at Mihin Lanka are actively involved in providing engaging
activities for our multi-faith agents and customers. Mihin Lanka is a
well-known pilgrim carrier and flies to places of worship that are significant
to multiple religious groups. We fly pilgrims to Gaya, Varanasi, Jakarta, Medan
and we also fly Indonesian pilgrims to Colombo and Jeddah.”
