Sachitra Senanayake banned from international cricket |
Sri Lanka’s off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake has been
found to be over the legal limits in bowling action by International Cricket
Council (ICC) accredited laboratory in Cardiff, UK and has been asked to be
banned from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect, News Source
said.
Four deliveries sent down
in the fourth one-day international against England,at Lord’s were deemed
to be in breach of the 15-degree elbow extension permitted under International
Cricket Council rules, and he has been suspended from international cricket
with immediate effect.
Mathews responded : “When you travel to some parts of the world and people find a certain bowler difficult to handle they tend to report.”
Senanayake was also involved in the controversial ‘Mankading’ run out of England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler in the final ODI at Edgbaston, when the Sri Lankan bowler removed the bails of Buttler who was backing-up at the non-striker’s end.
Sachithra Senanayake has played in 39 ODIs and taken 40 wickets while conceding 1,393 runs. He played one Test match against Pakistan but took no wickets. He also played 17 T20 matches and took 18 wickets for 300 runs.
