The Samsung Technical Lab will provide a comprehensive training programme, which will benefit students of the Vocational Training Authority who are enrolled in government approved technical courses. The lab will enable students to gain additional skills and knowledge and a special programme focused on the consumer electronics industry, will be offered by Samsung. Samsung’s experienced technicians will provide students with an in-depth training on how to repair and maintain refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, air conditioners, audio visual appliances, TVs, mobile devices and other electronics. The skills that the students acquire, will give them the theoretical and practical foundation needed to find a variety of employment opportunities in the consumer electronics industry.

Youngmin Shin, Managing Director of Samsung in Sri Lanka, said, “In Sri Lanka, Samsung has experienced significant growth and has established a strong market presence. However, we believe that as a leading corporate, we must also fulfil our social responsibilities by supporting the needs of the local community. Through the Samsung Technical Lab, we hope to provide students with world-class vocational education and equip them with the skills they require to become high quality technicians and mechanics. I would like to thank the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training for providing us with an opportunity to launch this initiative, I hope that we will be able to work together to provide students who are seeking employment in the consumer electronics industry with the training they require to excel in their job roles.”
